Peter Tarrant, for Pets Lifeline

I've spent 12+ years growing pipeline for tech companies. I want to spend the next chapter growing support for Sonoma County's animals.

I live in Petaluma. This one's personal, not just professional.

The short version

12+ years in B2B SaaS demand generation and account-based marketing. Most recently I built an ABM program from scratch at Pendo that drove roughly a third of enterprise opportunities and about three-quarters of enterprise closed-won revenue. The through-line: I know how to get the right message to the right person at the right time, and prove it worked.

Why this, why now

Everything I've done in B2B marketing is really about one thing.

Building relationships with a defined group of people over time, and giving each one a reason to stay engaged. At a tech company that group is target accounts. At Pets Lifeline it's adopters, donors, members, and the local community.

I'm based in Petaluma. I volunteer with Sonoma Family Meal, I'm active with the Knights of Columbus, and I already follow local community life through things like the Petaluma Bounty newsletter. This isn't a pivot into a random cause. It's local, and it's already part of my life.

A few ideas for the role

Not a playbook. Starting points.

  1. 01

Treat major donors and recurring members like key accounts.

Build simple lifecycle nurture tracks for donors and adopters instead of one-size-fits-all newsletters. A first-time adopter, a monthly donor, and a longtime volunteer each get messages relevant to them.

  2. 02

    Local business co-marketing.

Stand up a lightweight partner program with Sonoma Valley wineries, pet stores, cafes, and vets. It's similar to the multi-location partner and gifting programs I've run before, and it widens reach without adding budget.

  3. 03

Lighten the marketing workload with automation.

Use the CRM and marketing automation tools I already work in daily to handle repetitive donor communications and event follow-up. That frees up time for storytelling and events.

  4. 04

More adoption stories, less manual lift.

Use AI-assisted content workflows I already use in my own work to turn shelter stories, adoption updates, and volunteer moments into a steady stream of social and email content, no big team required.

  5. 05

    Track what's actually working.

Bring simple, honest reporting on which channels and campaigns actually drive adoptions, donations, and event turnout. Same discipline I've used to prove pipeline impact in tech roles.

One last thing

I'm not looking to import a tech playbook wholesale.

I want to learn what makes Pets Lifeline's community tick and bring the parts of my background that actually help. Happy to talk through any of this.
